It’s a Circus (Circus) in Reno

When my boss first told me we’d be staying at the Circus Circus, my immediate thought was, “That doesn’t sound very practical, it’s still a 6-hour drive to Reno [from Vegas]”. Yes, I know, I’m a dumbass.

My favorite work trip perk has to be the hotel stays. I’m not picky, I just enjoy being out of the house.

With that in mind, I wasn’t expecting much on a recent trip to Reno, where I stayed at the Circus Circus. And safe to say, expectations were… met?

The stay was 40 USD per night + 35 USD a night for resort fees, for a total of $258 (w/taxes) for three nights. Which really isn’t bad, but what is up with the resort fees? Amenities at Circus Circus include wifi, electrical vehicle charging stations, a fitness center, self check-in, and 24-hour guest services. Color me unimpressed. The resort also features a casino, 40 carnival games (!), and 4 food locations.

The room was perfectly nice and very comfortable.

Firm bed and fluffy pillows.

Spacious, clean, well lit.

A great view of the mountains and the beautiful sunset.

The bathroom was a wee bit dark for my taste, but the lighting around the mirror I loved.

The amenities were alright, I guess. I am curious though if they use the same for their Vegas location.

But everything else was just so empty. During my stay I only ever saw 4 other guests (my boss included).

Most of the common areas were either closed off or under construction.

It wasn’t bad, mind you. Just a little unnerving, in a post-apocalyptic sort of way.

Would I stay here again? Meh, probably.

I just hope they’d breathe a little more life into this Circus馃帾

The Circus-Circus Hotel and Casino at The Row is located on 500 N Sierra St, Reno, Nevada, USA.

Based mainly in Colorado. Loves cheese, rain, and starry nights. Can usually be spotted in the wild wearing a Spirit Jersey and balancing two cameras. Often laughs and cries at the same time. Barely survived her Master's program, but seriously considering a Doctorate.
